Why Are There Plastic Cups in the Delta Air Lines Crown Room Clubs in Atlanta?
It is not because of the now-infamous "enhancements" that have been implemented by Delta Air Lines in recent years.
Actually, it is because the Atlanta area is suffering from the worst drought in years. In fact, if the Atlanta area does not get a few additional inches of rain by December 31, 2007 will be the driest year ever recorded in Atlanta history.
If the Crown Room Clubs in Atlanta do not have to wash glasses, then that is that much less water that the Crown Room Clubs need to use.
Read all about it in the Kudos to DL for Conservation...
...and if you find yourself in the Atlanta area anytime soon, please conserve water as much as you can. It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

The Gate turns one
Tomorrow is the first anniversary of the launch of The Gate. Since I am in the clouds all day tomorrow (flying before canarsie pipes in with a punny wise-crack), I'm posting this today. Here is the first blog entry after launch.
This blog is for you, so please feel free to suggest how we can improve it or ideas for entries.

A New and Improved Search Engine is Now Available on FlyerTalk!
The IB Search Beta Update thread has received little fanfare as it quietly sits virtually unnoticed in the Technical Issues forum.
However, the news is huge: searches for three-letter terms on FlyerTalk has improved tremendously!
I tested out the beta search feature in the Hilton forum, using HHV as a search term. For those of you who are unfamiliar, HHV is the Hilton Hawaiian Village hotel property, which is one of the most popular properties discussed in the Hilton forum. The search using the beta search engine was fast and the results were accurate!
Please read the thread for additional benefits to testing and using the new beta search engine and then try it for yourself.
Of course, the traditional search engine is still available for those of you who prefer to use it.

Under Pressure to Celebrate a Special Anniversary?
Yes - and no...
...I am not asking you if you are under pressure to celebrate a special anniversary. Rather, FlyerTalk member underpressure is celebrating a special anniversary.
Can you guess what anniversary he is celebrating that is so special that it has caused the eyes of some FlyerTalk members to well up with tears?
I can promise you that the A very special anniversary today thread is "on the up and UP".
Advisory: Please ensure that you have a box of tissues handy before you read that thread. It just may very well touch your heart...

Discussions About Miles and Points: Have Things Changed on FlyerTalk?
FlyerTalk member and former moderator zrs70 laments: "When I joined FT, the topics seemed to focus on how to get the best bang for the buck. Today, many of the posts seem to be about how the airline owes us all the time (extra miles put into the account, compensation issues, etc.) Have others noticed this gradual shift?"
Is there indeed a gradual shift in the tone of the topics discussed on FlyerTalk?
Find out what other FlyerTalk members, both "newbies" and "old-timers", have to say. Better yet, post your experience and what you believe in the Has FT shifted from advocating FF programs to "shtupping" then? thread.

City Ticket Offices: An Endangered Species...
...at Delta Air Lines, anyway, although I understand the city ticket offices of some other airlines are slowly becoming extinct.
Anyway, unless you live in New York City, say goodbye to those Delta Air Lines city ticket offices.
Is it a sign of the times, or can the closing of at least some of the city ticket offices be prevented?
Find out in the DL to close US CTOs, except NYC thread.

Attention, Overweight Women...
...have you ever experienced discrimination against you when traveling?
Have you not been treated as well as your fellow travelers simply because you are a woman and you happen to be overweight?
If so, please post your experience in the how much discrimination for overweight FT women thread.
Please also post ways that the discrimination can be minimized in the future.

Does This FlyerTalk Thread Cut the Mustard?
To me, it does.
Mustard is one of my favorite condiments of all time. Although I will use it in its basic form, my favorite mustard is the authentic spicy brown mustard used in Kosher delicatessens in New York. However, I will also use flavored mustards when the opportunity arises. Dijon mustard is delicious as well.
Not that it matters to me, but the great thing about mustard is that it is usually low in fat and in calories. Sodium, however, may be an issue.
If you are a mustard fanatic, reading the Mustard fans? thread is an absolute must...
...ard.

The Breezeway by Delta Air Lines.
Some people use the Breezeway to pass.
Some people prefer to pass on the Breezeway.

Choosing a Low-End Hotel
There is a lot of language in The crappy hotel thread: choosing among the low end that I would not repeat myself.
Then again, there is some rather strong debate amongst FlyerTalk members about what is perceived to be a low-end hotel property.
Read the thread and see if you agree with what has been posted thus far regarding low-end hotels. However, some of what has been posted is quite disgusting. You may want to skip this thread if you get queasy easily.
Some of the dialogue in this thread is contentious; some of it comical. One thing is for certain: you may post your opinion in this thread as to what comprises a low-end hotel...

Baggage misdelivery, with a twist
When HIDDY's bag was not delivered he was stoic. After all, these things happen and the airline promised delivery would be quick. Days later the bag was delivered, but only to the local bus station ... which was closed for the weekend.
