Booger Down in Your Hotel Room? It Snot What You Think...
...but who nose what went on in your hotel room before you picked this hotel and checked in?
What may have caused FlyerTalk member bankingconsultant to possibly exclaim "Oh, sheet!!!" after inspecting what was on the bed on which bankingconsultant was about to lie down?
You might have already sniffed out the clues, but you may want to read the I've seen a lot, but boogers all over the bedsheets? thread. It really blows.
WARNING: If you are easily squeamish or get sick easily, you may be advised to avoid reading the content of this thread, especially around meal time...

Alitalia: L'amico lei può risparmiare un Euro?!?
Perhaps L'amico lei può risparmiare un Euro? may not be the best way to say Buddy, can you spare a Euro? in Italian, but the financial problems in which the airline known as Alitalia is experiencing is certainly well-known to many FlyerTalk members.
The Alitalia's financial difficulties thread discusses the problems with Alitalia in detail as well as offers potential solutions.
One controversial solution posted by Italian FlyerTalk member SEAUAKID suggests that Alitalia should be shut down altogether.
Do you agree? Can you think of how the woes of Alitalia can best be solved?

Live Nudie Shows Starring: YOU?!?
This could happen at an airport near you.
It is already happening at other airports, such as one in Moscow.
This is all due to a security screening technology known as backscatter.
While it is certainly not the first thread on FlyerTalk to discuss backscatter technology, you may want to read the Backscatter (aka nude x-ray) for further details.
I do not believe you get paid for spontaneously starring in your own impromptu nudie show...

Is Anyone Else Using Travelgoop?
Does anyone else even know what is Travelgoop and for what it is used?
No, it is not what airlines serve to you as your meal.
No, it is not that foul-smelling stuff found in the bathroom of your hotel room if housekeeping did not do a good-enough job of cleaning the room.
No, it is not that sticky gunk you find under the seat of your rental car.
Find out here.

The Legendary Westin St. Francis Hotel: US$100.00 Per Night!
You read that correctly!
The legendary Westin St. Francis hotel in San Francisco, California, United States, at which I have stayed at least twice, is offering rooms for the special rate of US$100.00 per night.
Find out the reason why in the Westin St Francis $100/ Night For 100th Anniversary thread.
Well, I suppose the title of the thread obviously gave away the reason why the Westin St. Francis is offering rooms at US$100.00 per night, which means that you do not need to read the thread after all - unless you want to find out the details of this special offer, such as when the special rate is good, how to book a room, and whether or not you can earn Starwood Preferred Guest points...

WARNING: Something Dangerous is Occurring Right Now!...
...but where, what is currently going on, and by whom?!?
Find out by using the Global Incident Map.
For example, at the time this was posted, in Thailand one soldier was wounded in a Ruso railway station bombing, Greenpeace is blocking a cargo ship in the Netherlands, a boy was killed in a bomb blast in Uganda, a napalm bomb was tested in New Zealand, and at least four bomb threats were reported in various locations in the United States. Other incidents were occurring in other various locations around the world.
I am happy to report that no dangerous incidents are being reported at this time in the continents of South America and Australia.

Let's Play "Unite the Couple"!
Have you ever purposely come between a couple?
This is the game known as "Unite the Couple".
The instructions on how to play this game are simple, althought there are slight alternate variations as to how this game is played: when attempting to choose an open seat on an aircraft when boarding, identify which two people you think is a couple. Attempt to sit in the middle seat between them, hoping that they are too close to each other to allow that to happen.
ClimbGuy is a FlyerTalk member who played the game and apparently lost...

With options that are limited to his family, cblaisd pleads for assistance from other FlyerTalk members in the Medical Emergency in Costa Rica: Anyone with any ideas? thread.
The true spirit of the community of FlyerTalk shines through in a major way here, as the generosity and soul of FlyerTalk members continue to amaze. Imagine the Jetway bridge being broken and missing your flight because of that, forcing you to stay overnight in Memphis.
That is what happened to FlyerTalk member ksucats, who then went to relax and grab a couple of beers, only to have the problems continue.

Dear Sir or Madam: Please Partake in Reading This Thread, but Only if You Are an Elite Member
Should passengers in the coach or economy class cabins be treated like worthless cattle by employees of airlines while they are polite to passengers in the premium class cabin?
To passengers who have earned their elite perks: "Would you care for some filet mignon or some lobster thermidor as your dinner this evening?"
To passengers who have no elite status: "Here" says the flight attendant gruffly as he or she flips that sealed tray over towards you - that is, if you get served a meal at all.
To all elite readers: would you please politely venture towards perusing the polite airline staff is NOT an elite perk, it should come standard for all pax thread and offer your own valued opinion?
To everyone else: get your common you-know-whats over to the polite airline staff is NOT an elite perk, it should come standard for all pax thread and keep your worthless comments to yourselves.

An FTer birthday this week - a happy birthday for mrakant on 11th October.
Jenbel and chrissxb have set up a fantastic consolidated do thread.
New news - pax dash with ash - is a terminal dump too rash?
A report on a trip - Frankfurt to Dubai in LH F.
Something from the talking heads, err Talk Board - a proposal for a new San Diego destination forum and a request for a new fare gone subforum in mileage run forum.
Something random - US$7846 offer for downgrade compensation - would you take it?

We Hope that This Thread is a Wash...
...or, at least FlyerTalk member RichardInSF hopes so.
When one travels on a budget, one usually eschews paying $2 or $3 per pair of socks being cleaned by the hotel laundry service. A reasonable alternative, providing that one has the time, is patronizing a coin-operated laundromat.
Please assist RichardInSF in answering his question: Is there a website that helps travellers find coin-op laundromats worldwide?
I hope what is posted here does not deter gentlemen or ladies from reading that thread, resulting in them taking a powder...

Vacation Destination: El Paso, Texas?
Why not?
For the third consecutive year, FlyerTalk member jfe is inviting fellow FlyerTalk members to drop by his mansion ("It's not a mansion!", growls jfe) in the Who Will Be The Next FlyerTalk Member To Post? An OMNI Game LIVE and In Person:ELP 3 thread.
This FlyerTalk gathering, originated through a certain OMNI forum game created by someone who is not exactly playing with a full deck of cards, if you know what I mean, has gained popularity each year. I participated in the first one, and I must say, jfe and his family are gracious hosts who prepare and serve great food.
There is plenty do to within a day's drive of El Paso, including visiting Carlsbad Caverns and White Sands National Monument, both in New Mexico.
If you are able to do so, I would definitely recommend attending this event.

Having It All on In-Flight Meals: Asking for "Seconds"?
"Excuse me, sir - would you like to have the beef, the chicken or the seafood today?"
"May I please have some of each?"
If you cannot make up your mind as to what to choose for your meal on-board an aircraft during flight, is this scenario appropriate? Are you being greedy and selfish if you ask for some of everything? Could you be denying another passenger a choice of entree? Is there anything wrong with asking for extra food on-board an aircraft during flight?
Find out in the Getting seconds for inflight meals thread.
By the way, you may read that thread as many times as you like. In fact, you may read as many FlyerTalk threads as you like. There is no limit!
