Five FT Finds
An FTer birthday this week - wish adrianjc32 a happy birthday on 5th September.
Jenbel and chrissxb have set up a fantastic consolidated do thread.
New news - they're addicted to cheap flights.
A report on a trip - two reports on places less visited this week. Greenland and Bhutan.
Something from the talking heads, err Talk Board - Talk Board voted to merge Varig back into Other North & South America FFPs. There are discussions on a proposed new travel products forum, and a suggested new travel enthusiasts forum.
Something random - the latest revenue-generation idea from Ryanair is to charge for at airport check in. If you have any checked bags, or are not an EU citizen, this charge is compulsory (online check in is not valid).

Have a Nice Flight in Coach Class, Darling, While I Enjoy First Class!
Imagine you are traveling with your significant other on the same flight. You get upgraded to the premium class cabin.
Do you refuse the upgrade and sit with your significant other in the coach class cabin, accept the upgrade and give it to your significant other while you sit in the coach class cabin, or do you accept the upgrade and sit in the premium class cabin while your significant other sits in the coach class cabin?
A lot of discussion by many FlyerTalk members ensued in only 24 hours in the GF in coach? thread.
What if you were the significant other and this happened to you? What would you do?
I wonder if the couple is still together...

Where is the Worst Security Experience Allegedly Found?
You may be surprised, according to the opinion of FlyerTalk member MileageAddict, as to where this security checkpoint is - or, should I say, these security checkpoints are - located where he had the worst security experience:

Breaking News: New Chief Executive Officer Named at Delta Air Lines
According to the Wall Street Journal, the new Chief Executive Officer of Delta Air Lines will be Richard Anderson...

What will happen from here? What does the future hold for Delta Air Lines and its employees?
More details as they break can be found in the Delta to name Richard Anderson new CEO thread.

No More Booking Bonus on Delta Air Lines
Originally, one was able to earn up to 1,000 bonus Delta Air Lines SkyMiles simply for booking airfares at www.delta.com, which is the Internet web site for Delta Air Lines.
Eventually, the booking bonus was cut in half to 500 bonus Delta Air Lines SkyMiles.
The booking bonus has now been eliminated altogether.

So you've boarded your flight, stowed your carry ons and settled into your seat. Then the gate agent boards to request for volunteers to be offloaded, offering nothing in return!

New York's Second Avenue Deli to Re-Open!
For those of you lamenting the loss of the Second Avenue Deli in New York when it closed its doors more than a year ago, the good news is that it is set to re-open.
There is nothing like Kosher delicatessen in New York for either a delicious satisfying meal or a simple nosh between meals. Imagine the pastrami sandwiches on rye bread with spicy brown mustard, accompanied by a potato knish, a bowl of matzoh ball soup, and an assortment of sour pickles and half-sour pickles. This must be consumed with a Dr. Brown's cream soda.
This is only one of countless combinations of enjoying authentic New York Kosher delicatessen cuisine.
Read the Second Avenue Deli To Re-open thread for more details.

Jenbel and chrissxb have set up a fantastic consolidated do thread.

Something from the talking heads, err Talk Board - voting is underway on a new emergencies forum. There is also a request to clarify the home forum for posts about Sri Lankan Airlines, and a proposal for a new air cargo forum.
Something random - TidewaterTraveler asks what do you expect on a flight to Ndjamena? If anyone knows it will be some FTers, right?

LH pulls out of IATA YY fares
It seems that Lufthansa is no more accepting IATA YY fares. What are IATA YY fares you ask? These are full fare, fully flexible fares that in theory can freely interchange between airlines (hence YY airline code is used) - ie they can be extremely useful indeed, especially if bought from a cheap location in first or business class. For more background on IATA YY fares check out the mileage run forum.

No Women Allowed on This Flight
Imagine a flight with only men and no women.
That is exactly what happened on one particular El Al flight.
Find out more details in the Yediot: Two rabbis get woman-free EL AL flight thread.
By the way, only men are allowed to read that thread.
