House About an Exchange?

Would you trade your home temporarily with someone else instead of booking a hotel room when you travel?

Initially, this sounds like a good idea. If you own a home or are able to sublease where you live, why pay for a hotel when you can stay in the home of someone else at your destination as someone uses your home while you are gone. This seems like a fair exchange, especially for the budget traveler - but is it a good idea?
