How Safe is the Safe in the Hotel?
That is what FlyerTalk member flyer121 wants to know in the How secure is my hotel safe? thread.
There is a combination of FlyerTalk members that have locked in on posting different thoughts, experiences and opinions in that key thread.
If you do not feel that the safe in your hotel is safe, you can put the safe in the safe - but how safe is the safe in the safe? Is the hotel safe? If so, how safe is the safe in the safe in the allegedly safe hotel?
I believe it is safe to say that I have used the word safe too many times at this point...

How long is too long?
How long spent in an aircraft toilet is too long? What are they doing in there? On second thoughts, don't answer that.

Important change to One World Explorer (and possibly other products)
From 1 July (ie this Sunday), the rule limiting number of flights will change to number of segments - ie including surface segments.
This is a major devaluation of the xONEx (and similar) product. Read about it and FTers' reactions here.

Five FT Finds
An FTer birthday this week - wish surturminn a happy 40th birthday on 1st July.
Jenbel and chrissxb have set up a fantastic consolidated do thread. So I am looking for 1 more new find to showcase each week. Any suggestions please by PM (click here)?
New news - EU air safety committee reccommends a ban of all Indonesian airlines from flying to/from EU. Not that any currently fly scheduled services to EU, but the usual consumer warnings will have an effect on the airlines.
Something from the talking heads, err Talk Board - a proposal to move the Germany forum made less than a week ago has turned into a vote to restructure all the destination forums, and which seems to be a done deal (although not yet published). Perhaps I should post latest Talk Board happenings more often than weekly? PM me your thoughts (click here)
As a result of this vote, a suggestion has been made for Talk Board to change the notification and voting timelines. Meanwhile, discussion continues on the proposal to create a Finnair forum.
Something random - One World will have a new connection between Europe and Asia with the launch of Finnair's Seoul service next year.

House About an Exchange?
Would you trade your home temporarily with someone else instead of booking a hotel room when you travel?
Initially, this sounds like a good idea. If you own a home or are able to sublease where you live, why pay for a hotel when you can stay in the home of someone else at your destination as someone uses your home while you are gone. This seems like a fair exchange, especially for the budget traveler - but is it a good idea?
Find out in the Home Exchange -Good idea ? thread.

Keep abreast of the heated discussion by pumped-up FlyerTalk members of the Woman Says Breast Milk Kept Her Off Plane thread, where a woman allegedly attempted to board an aircraft with three ounces of breast milk but without a child with her.
Be certain that you are lactose-tolerant before reading the thread and going with the flow.
Okay, I do believe that I have milked this topic for all that it is worth, so I will spare all of you pour people from further puns...

If you have spotted hybrid fuel-efficient vehicles at another National Car Rental location, please report them by posting in the FYI - I see hybrids... thread.

Which City in Alaska?
Juneau that FlyerTalk member Nobbi has been over a Barrow looking for advice as to Which city in Alaska? one should fly for a long weekend?
In all Fairbanks, I believe that the Anchorage of an Alaskan vacation should be based on what one likes to do and see, although there has been Nome mention of other Alaskan cities.
If one can affjord to go to Seward, I would recommend that location, although one may want to Homer in on other Alaskan locations.

Women: How to Dress for Business Travel to the United States
Ladies, please try not to skirt this issue when traveling to the United States on business.
FlyerTalk member QMConsultant, who hails from Zurich, Switzerland, asks in the Business travel to US - clothing question thread about how to dress when traveling to the United States.
Hoping that she does not get hosed, other female FlyerTalk members post off-the-cuff advice that would simply make men pant.
If you have any advice to offer, please do not shoe away from posting in this thread and keep valuable information buttoned up underwear it will not be found. I do not believe anyone will bra-beat you or belt you if you are mistaken, so please participate in the thread.

Are Special Lines for Elite Members of Airline Frequent Flier Programs Unfair?
One of the perks of being an elite member of the frequent flier program of an airline is to be able to pass through a Transportation Security Administration checkpoint using a special line at select airports around the United States.
Usually, there is a shorter wait at the line reserved for elite members of airline frequent flier programs. However, I can assure you from personal experience that that is not always the case.
Regardless, is the practice of lines especially reserved for elite members of airline frequent flier programs unfair?
Please weigh in at the NYTimes Ethicist: Elite TSA lines not fair thread - or, at least, find out how others opined.

Do Passengers Seated by a Window Have a Right to be Shady?
Let us shed some light on this issue: does a window of opportunity exist for a passenger seated elsewhere on an aircraft to dictate whether or not a window shade should be up or down, or does the passenger seated next to the window see right through that request?
What if one who is not seated next to a window wants to look outside? What if one has a splitting headache or is watching a movie and wants the window shade closed?
Reading the Yet Another Airline Etiquette Question: Window Shades may be a pane, but it could be curtains for you on your next flight if you are blind as to what is the proper etiquette.
