I Don't Want My Elite Status Now. May I Please Have It Later?

That is what FlyerTalk member kaiserjoeicem is asking, as he is preparing to join the Peace Corps for a year and cannot take advantage of his Delta Air Lines Silver Medallion elite status while he is gone.
